Creating a Custom Bible Reading Plan
Creating a custom Bible reading plan is a fairly simple process. You just have to know how to do it. There are three simple steps to follow...
1) Find a Plan
First, find a one-year Bible reading plan that you like. Here are the different types of reading plans you can choose from:
- Entire Bible in standard order of books
- Entire Bible in chronological order of events
- Old and New Testaments combined each day (PDF)
- New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs (PDF)
2) Decide Your Speed
How fast do you want to read through the Bible? Half a year? Four months? Two weeks? Choose how many days you want to spend. For example, if you want to read through the whole Bible in 2 months, reading every day, that would be about 60 days.
3) Do the Math
The one-year Bible reading plan you chose in step one is divided into 365 "days." Now, all you have to do in this last step is some simple math. Solve: 365 divided by the number of days you will spend. The dividend equals the number of "days" you will need to read through during each literal day.
Here is an example of a customized Bible reading plan. Let's say you want to read through the Bible chronologically in 2 months. 2 months is about 60 days, so the equation is: 365/60 = about 6. So, if you read 6 "days" each literal day, you will finish in 61 days.
Also, remember to check off or cross out each day's readings as you complete them. That way you'll know where to start reading the next day.
Now that you know how to make your own custom Bible reading plans, you can read through the Bible as quickly or as slowly as you desire; you're no longer limited to one year. So give yourself a pat on the back for making your own Bible reading plan... then start reading. :)
